Accidents in stamping work are mainly caused by the following reasons

1. The danger caused by the structure of the punch itself

At this stage, the vast majority of punch presses still use rigid clutches. Once the clutch is connected, a punching cycle must be completed before the slider stops. If the hand of the stamping worker cannot be taken out of the mold in time during the process of punching down, an accident of stamping and hand injury will occur.

2. There is a fault in the stamping process

During the operation of the punching machine, it will produce shock and vibration. After a long time, the parts of the punching machine will be deformed, worn or even broken, which will cause the punching machine to lose control and cause continuous punching. This is a very dangerous situation.

3. The switch of the punch press is faulty

The switch of the punching machine fails due to man-made or lack of maintenance for a long time, resulting in failure during the punching process.

4. Unreasonable stamping die design

Stamping dies are the basis for producing stamping parts. Unreasonable design of stamping dies will greatly increase the possibility of stamping accidents. Normal stamping dies will also be worn, deformed or damaged over time, leading to accidents.


Safety technical measures for stamping operations

1. Stamping safety tools must be used

During the stamping process, use safety tools to put the product blank into the mold and take out the stamped products and waste materials to realize out-of-mould operations and avoid putting hands directly into the mold to ensure the safety of workers.

2. Protection of the working area of the stamping die

(1) Install protective devices around the stamping die.

(2) Reasonably design the mold to reduce the dangerous area of the stamping mold.

(3) Design automatic or mechanical feeding.

3. Safety protection of punch presses

(1) Mechanical protection

push hands. This is a protective device that is linked with the punch slide and pushes the worker's hand away from the die opening through the swing of the baffle.

Swing bar hand guard. It is a device that uses the principle of leverage to move the hand away.

Handle safety device. It is a device that uses pulleys, levers, and ropes to link the manual movement of workers with the movement of sliders.

(2) Double switch control system

The slide is only activated when both buttons are pressed simultaneously by the press worker's hands. This completely eliminates the possibility that the worker puts his hand into the mold and the punch press starts.

(3) Safety grating

A punch press with a safety grating is equivalent to forming a protection zone for the entire dangerous area. When a worker enters the safety grating protection area, the punch press cannot be started.
